Step 9 – Hyaluronic Acid serum (HA) is applied to the face and neck. A Dermapen microneedling device is used. HA is the ultimate skin hydrator and microneedling it into the skin will give better product penetration and absorption. The needle cartridge holds 12 fine titanium needles which create tiny vertical channels in the skin for the serum to seep into. The serum is pushed into the skin at a depth of 0.2mm-0.4mm. No anaesthetic is used, as this is superficial microneedling. It can be uncomfortable in some areas where there is no fat. The forehead and jawline for instance. Your face will be pink following microneedling! The face is then cleansed with water.

You will also take home a hyaluronic face mask. This is for you to use when you get home in the evening following your treatment. Microneedling produces heat, tightness and, on some occasions, slight swelling. The mask needs to be placed on the face for 30-40 mins so all that lovely HA serum can be absorbed. This will help reduce the heat, tightness and redness and hydrate the skin before you go to bed. The redness will be gone within 24 hours.
