What is Microneedling? What is Mesotherapy?

Microneedling is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment which rejuvenates, tightens and lifts the skin, resulting in a refreshed and more youthful looking complexion.  It is a quick and highly effective treatment.  If you are thinking of having microneeding, you will need to consider having 3-6 treatments.  Results take time, as this is all about your own body producing collagen.  Each person is unique so some see results quickly whereas others might need to wait 3 months.

Mesotherapy is microneedling with specifically formulated serums to target problem skin issues and skin conditions.  Hyaluronic acid serum is used primarily as the glide serum for microneedling.  Mesotherapy, also uses hyaluronic acid serum as its glide serum, but with the addition of a formulated serum.  There are three serums I use.  I use ClinicCare’s Tight serum for anti-ageing.  This helps with improving fine lines and wrinkles.  Glow serum for pigmentation and brightening dull skins.  And the three serum is Pure for acne-prone skins to help improve scarring.  These serums can improve the appearance of acne-scarring, stretch marks, and fine wrinkles.  With a number of treatments it can can improve smokers lips and diminish crows feet.

Either of these treatments will improve rosacea, hyperpigmentation, age-spots, large pores, dull complexions, dehydrated sun-damaged skins. Great anti-aging treatment liked by those trying to turn-back the clock for a more natural look.

If you’re not keen on botox and filler microneedling should be considered.

How Does Microneedling Work?

The Dermapen microneedling device holds a needle cartridge. A cartridge with either 12 or 36 ultra-fine sterile titanium needles is used. A glide serum is applied to the skin to help the microneedling device move over the skin effortlessly. The very fine titanium needles puncture the skin so quickly, making thousands of tiny vertical channels per second. This controlled injury starts the healing process and kick-starts the production of collagen and elastin.

Microneedling with a Dermapen is more effective and comfortable than using a manual dermarolling device. The needle cartridge is small and can work into tight areas, around the nose, lips and eyes. It can also work at different depths, depending on the thickness of the skin being treated.

The small channels created close after 10 minutes trapping in the serum.

What Are The Benefits of Microneedling?

As we age our bodies stop producing collagen, or the collagen it does produce is of a lower grade. By getting your own body to effectively produce better quality collagen will benefit the skin. Microneedling is an effective treatment and shows improvements in the following skin disorders and conditions:

• Wrinkles – face, neck and décolletage
• Premature ageing
• Enlarged pores
• Lax skin – improving firmness and elasticity
• Acne scarring – improving the appearance of scars
• Surgery scarring – tummy tuck scars, face-lift scars, etc
• Stretch Marks
• Smoothing the skin’s surface
• Evening out skintone
• Rosacea
• Hyperpigmentation – Encouraging the skin’s natural pigmentation back into treated areas.

Microneedling Device

The Dermapen 3 Medical is used for all my microneedling treatments.  It works on both the face and the body. The depth can be changed very easily throughout the procedure to the most appropriate depth. I use 12 needle and 36 needle cartridges. Cartridges are single-use and disposed of following the treatment.

Pre-treatment Numbing

The face and neck are numbed for 30-40 minutes before the microneedling session starts. The numbing will make this procedure more comfortable.

Microneedling In Action

The managed trauma created by microneedling starts the healing process, and in doing so, kick-starts the production of new better grade collagen. This collagen forms over 3 months and replaces the inferior grade collagen to a better grade. The new collagen is stronger and plums the skin, improving the appearance of wrinkles and any imperfections in the skin. Plan to have at least 3-6 treatments.

Microneedling In Action

Microneedling is the natural way to improve your skin’s texture, tone and appearance. Some prefer this treatment before embarking on botox. Patience is required though. Microneedling creates the trauma, but it’s your body that will produce the collagen and this takes time. Consider 3-6 treatments.
